Describing the motivation for painting is a difficult process. It is a constant interaction between ideas and marks, assessing the relative success of a series of actions in describing any particular moment is an on going process. Paintings can be left for weeks or finished in hours. Sometimes I know exactly what it is I am trying to achieve and sometimes a work will lead me to a different destination.
